Hi, I'm Taylor Mac Brown.
I'm a photographer who moved across the country to build something new, and I landed in Knoxville, Tennessee.
I take photographs. I build websites. And I love drawing portraits by hand, which is not something anybody hires me for, but it is probably the reason I look at faces the way I do.
Before the stills, there was film.
Before the photographs there was the moving image: documentary and commercial directing, cinematography, editing, and 3D.
For years, clients kept asking for the still frames first, single moments pulled straight from the footage, and those frames traveled further than the films they came from. So I went all in on photography, and the years behind a cinema camera gave me a way of seeing that very few photographers have.
These films are a few of the ones I had a hand in. They are the closest thing to a preview of how I see, and the festival laurels below are a celebration of their success.

Turns out I love building systems too.
So that is what I did.
It started with websites for family, then for friends, and now for whole companies. Somewhere in there I built one for my own trade as well. Studio Timer is a macOS app that sits in the menu bar and counts the hours you spend in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and eight more, then turns them into projects, invoices and exports without being asked.
